Mykonos Airport+Island (LGMK): two days old, and the island is the part nobody has seen
Skydom's LGMK gets the airport measurably right. The half of the product in its name is still a promise — and the marketing never says the word windmill.

Aggregate score: 3.4 / 5 — from 19 sources
- Visual fidelity: 3.8/5

The verdict
Skydom's Mykonos is a careful airport wrapped around an island nobody has seen. Everything checkable about LGMK itself — the 1,903 m by 30 m runway, the 405 ft elevation, the 2026 Fraport terminal with its perforated triangular screen wall, the manually placed edge lights with real spacing and bidirectional bulb colours — checks out, and the ramp clutter is present rather than promised. But the product is two days old, it is €20.00 on a single store, and the half of it named in the title is represented by exactly one screenshot taken from cruise altitude. There is no customer review, no forum thread, no video, and no night image behind a headline night-lighting claim. If you fly X-Plane 12.4+ around the Cyclades and €20.00 is loose change, the airport evidence says buy. Everyone else should wait two weeks for the first person to photograph Little Venice.
What owners consistently praise
- The runway-lighting work is the most specific claim on the page and the one both Threshold and FSElite singled out in their own words — manually placed edge lights matching real spacing, threshold and runway-end configuration, and bidirectional bulb colours
- The airport data checks out against the real thing: runway 16/34 at 1,903 m by 30 m, 405 ft elevation, and the 2026 Fraport-era layout, with bus boarding and mobile stairs rather than airbridges
- The terminal in Skydom's own shots is recognisably Mykonos rather than generic Aegean — the perforated triangular screen wall, the Fraport exterior lettering, the pergola walkway, the tower in the right place, and a modelled interior
- Ramp-level clutter is present rather than promised: baggage dollies, cargo pallets, cones, stairs trucks, tugs, high-vis staff, floodlight masts, perimeter fencing and an individually populated landside car park
- Nothing currently on sale covers LGMK's island for X-Plane at this ambition — the one previous attempt, Aerosoft and Icarus in 2014, is X-Plane 10 vintage and delisted from the X-Plane.org Store
- Skydom have shipped what they announced: the pipeline they posted on 16 October 2025 produced OMDW on 2 July 2026 and LGMK on 18 August 2026, with the freeware Red Sea International before both
What keeps coming up as a problem
- Two days after release there is no independent record at all — no simMarket customer review, no X-Plane.Org thread, no video, and FSElite's own release post sitting at zero comments
- The island — the half of the product name carrying the price premium — appears in Skydom's seven-image gallery exactly once, in a shot taken from roughly cruise altitude with no building visible
- The windmills are named nowhere: not in the feature list, not on the product page, not in either news write-up, while Aerosoft and Icarus animated them in X-Plane in 2014 and 29Palms lists them by name for MSFS
- "Enhanced night lighting and atmospheric realism" is a headline feature with not a single dusk or night screenshot behind it anywhere Skydom control
- No orthoimagery resolution and no coverage area are stated, against a twelve-year-old competitor that published 0.5 m/px over more than 140 km²
- €20.00 on a single store is €3 above Skydom's own OMDW at €17.00, from a developer whose first paid product is seven weeks old and still carries no store reviews — and simMarket's displayed figure excludes the VAT most European buyers will be charged
- X-Plane 12.4+ only, with no XP11 path of any kind and the promised MSFS 2024 version not yet in sight
Skydom put seven screenshots on the simMarket page for a product called MYKONOS AIRPORT+ISLAND. Six of them are the airport. The seventh is the island, photographed from what looks like about FL180, far enough up that you can see Delos, Tinos and the haze over the Aegean and not one whitewashed building. That is the entire published visual evidence for the half of the product that is in its name.
This is not an accusation. It is a description of the record two days after release, and the record is the problem. Mykonos Airport+Island (LGMK) went on sale on 18 August 2026. FSElite ran it at 14:27z that day; Threshold ran it the same day. As of this writing the FSElite post has zero comments, simMarket's listing still says "Review it now" because nobody has, the X-Plane.Org XP12 Scenery forum has no thread about it, and there is no video. Skydom's previous paid scenery, Dubai Al Maktoum, has been on sale since 2 July 2026 and has no simMarket customer reviews either.
We aggregate reviews. Aggregating requires that reviews exist. So this one works differently: it is an account of what can be established from the developer's own material, from the airport, and from what else covers LGMK in X-Plane — and an honest map of the sizeable area where a buyer is being asked to take Skydom's word for it at €20.00.
The good news is that quite a lot can be established, and most of it is encouraging. The airport data is right. The runway-lighting work is unusually specific. The terminal is recognisably the real one. The bad news is that everything load-bearing about the €20.00 — the island, the night lighting, the frame rate — is currently a promise, and one of those promises leaves out the most famous object on Mykonos.
Nineteen sources were read for this piece: the storefront and the developer's own pages, the release coverage, Skydom's X-Plane.Org development thread, the free LGMK options, the twelve-year-old payware that tried this first, and the MSFS rival that a lot of readers will be weighing against it. Reddit, which would normally supply sentiment-at-a-glance, is unavailable in our research environment — though at this age it would have had little to tell us anyway.
What you are actually buying
One product, one store, one simulator.
| Product | Mykonos Airport+Island (LGMK) — XP12 |
| Developer | Skydom Digital Solutions OÜ (trading as Skydom, marketed from Dubai) |
| Released | 18 August 2026 |
| Price | €20.00 on simMarket — the only store |
| Simulator | X-Plane 12 only. simMarket's requirements line reads "X-Plane 12.4+" |
| XP11 | Not supported, in any form |
| MSFS | An MSFS 2024 version is stated as planned after the X-Plane launch. It is not out |
Two things about that table are worth slowing down for.
The first is X-Plane 12.4+. Not "X-Plane 12" — a specific minimum point release. It is the most useful sentence on the whole product page and it is buried under the requirements heading. If you are one of the many X-Plane users who pins a known-good 12.x build, check yours before you buy.
The second is the price. Skydom's own site links "Buy Now" straight to simMarket, so there is no direct checkout and no second price to compare against. Note also that simMarket's terms say displayed prices include whatever VAT applies to you — for an unresolved, not-logged-in session that means 0%, so €20.00 is a floor rather than a total, and it will read higher once you sign in from most of Europe. For context, Skydom's Dubai Al Maktoum is €17.00 on the same store and $19.45 on the X-Plane.org Store. Mykonos is currently simMarket-only, and it is the more expensive of the two.
What competes with it
This matters more than usual, because LGMK is not an empty slot.
Free, and already installed. X-Plane 12 ships Scenery Gateway airports, and the Gateway's recommended LGMK is submission 102496 by SkyChek, dated 7 June 2024 — a reworked layout built against ESRI imagery and Jeppesen charts, flagged as a Scenic Airport, with the author explicitly targeting VRAM and frame rate. SkyChek also distributes a tidied XP12-only edit through Threshold's file library. It is a competent, correct, free airport, and every XP12 owner reading this already has a version of it.
Free, older. X-Plane.Org hosts library-dependent freeware LGMK builds carried forward from the XP10 era, whose author says plainly it is not a 100% accurate depiction. Fine for XP11; not the reason you would spend €20.
Payware, and gone. The one previous attempt at exactly what Skydom is selling — airport plus island — was Aerosoft's LGMK, developed by Icarus and reviewed by X-PlaneReviews in 2014 at $21.48. It covered over 140 km² at 0.5 m/px, put Mykonos Town's houses in at roughly 1:1 density, and animated the windmills. That was X-Plane 10. It is delisted from the X-Plane.org Store. So the precedent exists, it was well received, and it is unavailable.
A different simulator. 29Palms' Mykonos, published by Aerosoft, arrived for MSFS in July 2023 at around €15 and returned as a native MSFS 2024 build in June 2026 with a sloped runway and seven stands. It is not a rival to Skydom in any technical sense — different developer, different simulator, no upgrade path either way — but it is the reason a lot of simmers already feel they have Mykonos, and it is the version most of the screenshots you have seen of this airport came from.
So the value question is precise: is Skydom's island worth €20.00 over a free Gateway airport that is already in your sim?
What the community consistently praises
There is no community verdict yet, so this section reports what more than one independent source has singled out about the product rather than what owners report — and says so.
The runway lighting
The most specific promise on the page is also the one both news outlets picked out on their own: manually positioned runway lighting recreating real-world edge-light spacing, the threshold and runway-end configuration, and bidirectional bulb colours. Threshold and FSElite each led on it in wording that is not Skydom's. It is a strange thing to advertise unless you have actually done it — nobody invents a claim about bulb colours — and at an airport where the approach is the event, it is the right thing to have obsessed over.
The airport data is correct
Skydom's product page states runway 16/34 at 1,903 m by 30 m and an elevation of 405 ft. Those match the real Mykonos-Manto Mavrogenous Airport exactly. The layout is described as the 2026 configuration under Fraport, who took the airport over on 11 April 2017 and rebuilt the terminal. The release screenshots show bus boarding and mobile stairs and no airbridges, which is correct, and a stand marked A1, which is also correct. This is a small thing that tells you something: a developer who gets the runway width right has probably read the charts.
The terminal
In Skydom's own shots the terminal reads as Mykonos and not as generic Aegean. The perforated triangular screen wall is there, the Fraport-era exterior lettering is there, the pergola-shaded landside walkway is there, and the tower sits where the tower sits. An interior is modelled. It is clean — arguably a little too clean, with the flat white surfaces you get when a building has been modelled from photographs rather than weathered by hand — but it is the building.
Ramp-level clutter is present, not promised
The screenshots show baggage dollies, cargo pallets, cones, stairs trucks, tugs, high-vis staff, floodlight masts, perimeter fencing and a landside car park with individual cars in it. Ground clutter is the first thing a rushed scenery drops. It has not been dropped here.
Skydom deliver what they announce
On 16 October 2025 Skydom announced their freeware Red Sea International on the X-Plane.Org forums and listed LGMK, OMDW and KTEB as the pipeline, calling Mykonos "a long overdue creation for X-Plane 12". OMDW arrived 2 July 2026. LGMK arrived 18 August 2026. That thread has a couple of forum regulars volunteering to test and saying they will buy day one — the only genuine community sentiment about this product that exists anywhere, and it is warm. Two shipped products against a stated pipeline is a short record, but it is an unblemished one.
What keeps coming up as a problem
Nothing "keeps coming up", because there has not been time. What follows is what is missing from the record and from the marketing, which at this age is the honest version of the same section.
The island is unevidenced. Still open. Skydom's gallery is seven images. One is the island, from cruise altitude. Little Venice, Mykonos Town, Delos, the beaches, the resorts, the cruise ships — every specific island feature in the bullet list — appear in no published screenshot from anyone, including the developer. Neither news outlet was given one either. For a product whose name is half island and whose price premium is entirely island, that is the single biggest hole in the record.
The windmills are not mentioned anywhere. Still open. Read Skydom's feature list and you get "custom-modelled Cycladic architecture, churches, chapels and island landmarks". Read the product page, the simMarket copy, the Threshold piece and the FSElite piece and the word "windmill" does not occur once. The Kato Mili windmills above Little Venice are the most photographed objects in the Cyclades. Aerosoft and Icarus animated them in X-Plane in 2014. 29Palms lists them by name for MSFS, including the broken one near the terminal. Their absence from Skydom's copy is not proof they are missing — "island landmarks" may well cover them — but a developer who thought to advertise bidirectional runway bulb colours would normally think to advertise the windmills.
No orthoimagery figures. Still open. "High-resolution custom orthoimagery" with no resolution and no coverage area, against a twelve-year-old competitor that published 0.5 m/px over 140 km². A buyer cannot tell whether the island is orthophoto with hand-placed buildings across its whole area, or a detailed airport surround fading into treated default terrain a few kilometres out. The one aerial shot is consistent with either.
Night lighting is a headline feature with no night screenshot. Still open. "Enhanced night lighting and atmospheric realism" appears on simMarket, on Skydom's own page, and in Threshold's coverage. There is not one dusk or night image in the gallery, on the product page, or in either article.
Nothing to check against. Still open. No simMarket customer review on this product or on OMDW. No X-Plane.Org thread. No video. Zero comments on FSElite's post. If a buyer hits a problem this week, there is no thread to search and no established support record to lean on beyond a support@skydom.ae address.
Performance and stability
Nobody has published a frame-rate number, a VRAM figure or a crash report, so treat everything below as reasoning rather than reporting.
The combination Skydom have chosen is one of the more expensive ones in X-Plane. Custom orthoimagery over an island, custom terrain mesh, hand-placed buildings across Mykonos Town and the coastline, a separate modelled site at Delos, animated maritime traffic and cruise ships, plus a fully detailed airport with an interior and dense ramp clutter — each of those is affordable alone. Stacked, they are the classic recipe for an add-on that reviews beautifully on a 4090 and stutters on everything else. Skydom say it is "optimized for smooth performance and high visual quality"; every developer says that.
Two details cut the other way. The X-Plane 12.4+ requirement suggests they are building against a current renderer rather than shipping something dragged forward. And Skydom's OMDW, a physically vast airport with cargo complexes and a flight academy, has not generated a single public performance complaint in seven weeks on sale — though with no reviews at all, that silence proves less than it looks.
The realistic risk here is not a crash. It is loading a heavily built island on a mid-range machine, over an ortho mesh you may already have installed from another provider, and finding out that Mykonos costs you fifteen frames on final. That is worth knowing before you buy, and right now there is no way to know it.
Who should buy it
You fly X-Plane 12.4 or later, you fly the Greek islands, and €20.00 is not a decision. Buy it. The airport work that can be inspected is good, the data is right, the developer has shipped what they said twice running, and if the island is even three-quarters of what the bullet list says it is, this is the best LGMK X-Plane has had since 2014 by a wide margin. You will also be the person who finally writes the first review of it, which the rest of us need.
You want the island specifically, and that is why you are considering €20.00 over free. Wait two weeks. You are buying the one part of this product that nobody outside Skydom has seen, and the marketing does not name the island's best-known landmark. Two weeks gets you screenshots, a forum thread and probably a video. Nothing about a €20.00 scenery rewards being early.
You have a mid-range machine, or you already run ortho over the Cyclades. Wait, and wait specifically for a frame-rate report from someone with your class of hardware. This is the heaviest possible shape of scenery and there is currently no performance evidence of any kind.
You are on X-Plane 11. This is not for you, and there is no version of it that is. The XP11-era freeware on X-Plane.Org is your ceiling at LGMK, and Skydom's minimum is XP12.4.
You are an MSFS flyer who saw the Mykonos headlines. Do not buy this. It will not run in your simulator. 29Palms' Mykonos, native for MSFS 2024 since June 2026, is the one you want; Skydom have said an MSFS 2024 version of theirs is planned after the X-Plane launch, so if you specifically want Skydom's take, it costs you nothing to wait.
You fly out of LGMK once a summer on the Gateway airport and it looks fine. Do not buy it. SkyChek's Gateway submission from 7 June 2024 is a genuinely decent free airport that you already own, and until someone demonstrates the island, the €20.00 is buying a promise.
Where it stands today
On 20 August 2026, two days after release, Mykonos Airport+Island is a product with an excellent brief and an empty file. Everything Skydom have shown of the airport is good, and some of it — the runway lighting, the correct 1,903 m by 30 m runway, the terminal's triangular screen wall — is better than good. Everything they have said about the island is unillustrated, and the one island image they published is taken from too far away to settle anything.
That gap is unusual, and it is worth being clear about what it probably is. Skydom are a small studio with two paid products to their name, and the likeliest explanation for a thin gallery is a small marketing operation, not a hollow product. Their X-Plane.Org thread from October 2025 describes Little Venice, the New Mykonos Port and dozens of custom buildings in enough detail that the work plainly exists in some form. But "probably" is doing real work in that sentence, and at €20.00 it should not have to.
The version of this review worth reading will be possible in about a month, when somebody has flown a ToLiss A320 down the 16 approach at dusk, taken a screenshot of Little Venice from 2,000 ft, and posted a frame-rate figure. Until then the honest headline is that this looks like a careful airport wrapped around an unverified island, priced as though both halves are proven. If you want to gamble €20.00 that the second half lands, the evidence about the first half says the odds are decent.
Marketed vs. delivered
Each claim below is taken from the developer’s own marketing, then weighed against what owners report in the sources listed at the end of this review.
Overstated
"Custom-modelled Cycladic architecture, churches, chapels and island landmarks"
True as written, and that is the problem. The word "windmill" does not appear once in Skydom's feature list, on their product page, or in either the Threshold or FSElite coverage. The Kato Mili windmills above Little Venice are the single most recognisable structure on Mykonos; Aerosoft and Icarus animated them for X-Plane in 2014, and 29Palms lists them explicitly for MSFS, broken one included. "Island landmarks" may well cover them, but a studio that thought to advertise bidirectional runway bulb colours would normally think to name the windmills.
Partly true
"Detailed Mykonos Town and Little Venice waterfront"
Unverifiable at the time of writing, in either direction. Skydom's development thread from October 2025 describes Little Venice, the New Mykonos Port and dozens of custom buildings in circumstantial detail, so the work plainly exists in some form. But no published screenshot from Skydom, Threshold, FSElite or any owner shows the town, the waterfront, Delos or a single Cycladic building at ground level. The one island image in the gallery is taken from too far up to resolve a chapel.
Partly true
"Optimized for smooth performance and high visual quality"
No frame-rate figure, VRAM number or stutter report exists from anyone. The combination on offer — island-wide custom orthoimagery, custom terrain, hand-placed buildings across Mykonos Town and the coast, a separate Delos site, animated maritime traffic and a fully detailed airport with interior and dense ramp clutter — is among the most expensive shapes of scenery X-Plane supports. The XP12.4+ requirement suggests current-renderer development rather than a forward-drag, and Skydom's much larger OMDW has drawn no public performance complaint in seven weeks. Neither of those is a test result.
Holds up
"• X-Plane 12.4+"
Accurate, unusually precise, and the most useful line on the storefront. This is not a vague "X-Plane 12" but a stated minimum point release, and it is buried under the requirements heading where a hurried buyer will miss it. There is no XP11 build and no fallback: the older Aerosoft island package is X-Plane 10 vintage and delisted, so XP11 users have freeware only.
The last word
It is easy to read a claim check like the one above as a verdict on the developer, and it is not. Skydom announced Mykonos on the X-Plane.Org forums in October 2025 and delivered it, on a pipeline they also published, ten months later — their second paid release in seven weeks, after giving Red Sea International away for free. The airport they have built is measurably right in the places where being right is unglamorous and hard: runway dimensions, edge-light spacing, threshold configuration, no airbridges because Mykonos has none. That is the work of people reading charts rather than eyeballing satellite imagery, and X-Plane has waited twelve years for someone to take LGMK seriously again. The problem with this release is a gallery, not a scenery. Show the island and most of this review evaporates.
